Iain - Co-Producer, Chief Writer, Editor

eMail: iain@humble-pie.net

A Humble Pie and Steve Marriott fan going all the way back to his early teens in the 1970's, when Iain had a hunch and asked for “Rockin’ the Fillmore” as a Christmas present. The rest is history.

He saw Steve both with Humble Pie and the Small Faces five times in the 70's in Glasgow, and was lucky enough to meet him a couple times too. “He was a nice man as well as having all that talent!”, recalls Iain. He also attended the show in Glasgow which became the fourth side of "Eat It". “Peter Frampton was support act and I thought ‘Humble Pie can't be any better than this’....but they were!  Believe me, the record doesn't do them justice.”

Fittingly, Iain and “The Mijit” share a birthday (30th January), while Iain is exactly ten years younger, “which doesn't do any harm to the affinity I feel” he says. While intently following Steve’s career over the years, Iain has amassed a remarkable collection of music, photographs, press clippings and other media, making him one of the foremost authorities on the late rocker.

Nowadays, he still lives in Scotland, while working for a leading business technology provider. Iain serves as the moderator of the very fine Humble Pie e-group which he titled “Illegal Smile”. Iain, “We usually meet up a couple of times a year.  The internet has been tremendous in bringing like-minded souls together.”

Keith - Co-Producer, Editor, Site & Video Production

eMail: keith@humble-pie.net

One of those ‘like-minded souls’ to which Iain refers is across the Atlantic in Oklahoma, USA. Keith also became a Marriott/Pie fan as a teenager and saw them perform live on three occasions.

He met Steve and other Pie members during two of those tour stops. Reminiscing on those occasions, he says, “I kind of backed into eating lunch with Ridley and Shirley in Kansas City, then during the Eat It tour, Steve spent some time with me for an interview in my HIGH SCHOOL newspaper! Those are some of my fondest memories as a kid, and when you love the music it all really sticks with you.”

During a 26-year career as a television producer/director, Keith has won several awards for both journalism and marketing. His primary focus over the last few years has been historical documentaries, most of which have been shot in the United Kingdom. Now he’s shifted some of his attention toward the internet, “because it was the next logical step for me, always looking for a bigger audience” he quips.

With his involvement in Humble-Pie.net, according to Keith, he’s having the time of his life, “This has been a blast for me. Just think, broadcasting over the newest mass medium and it’s all about one of my favourite things in life. How rockin’ cool is that?!”

Ben - Videographer, Production Associate

A longtime music lover and afficienado, Ben is a relatively new, but enthusiastic Marriott & Humble Pie fan, which is evident by his attending the past two SF conventions and the relevant additions to his CD collection.

Ben has been involved in broadcasting for more than 25 years, many of those in television sports and entertainment production.  His radio experience includes stints as a program director and disc jockey.

In 1992 Iain and Ben, camera in hand, toured through Essex and visited several significant Marriott-related sites, including Beehive Cottage and Steve’s house in Arkesden.   His images from there and many places and events are seen throughout our “Multimedia” area.

Steve, Special Contributor

Steve became a Marriott fan at the age of 12 in Scotland,
"Steve Marriott’s  voice was just so powerful and full of emotion that it gave me a huge rush of excitement and pleasure." Steve recalls a 1970 meeting with the mijit  in Glasgow, "He was modest, unassuming, helpful, interesting, sharing, funny and real."

In 1997 Steve started transcribing the lyrics of the Small Faces, and his labour of love is now shared on this website.

Steve  resides in the West Highlands, where he works for the education department.  "There are still some pupils who are getting turned on to Marriott's music" Steve says with a gleam in his eye. No doubt who’s holding that class.
